Bug Description

Impact
------
Many file types are not previewable with Sushi. This includes Markdown files, Python scripts, patch files, etc. Also files that aren't previewable like ISO files and .deb files are supposed to show a preview window with a button to open in the app that can handle them.

Test Case 1
-----------
1. Install the update
2. Close the file browser if it's open
3. Open the Files app
4. Select a Markdown file and press the spacebar to preview it

You should see a preview of the contents of the Markdown file.
(You can create a Markdown file in your text editor. Just save and use a .md extension instead of .txt)

Test Case 2
------------
1. Install the update
2. Close the file browser if it's open
3. Open the Files app
4. Select a ISO file and press the spacebar to preview it

You should see the preview window with a button to Open with Archive Manager. (The contents of the ISO itself isn't previewable.)

Hello Mathieu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-sushi into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-sushi/42.0-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Hello Steve, thank you for following-up on this.

I have installed the new version gnome-sushi/jammy-proposed,now 42.0-0ubuntu1 amd64 [installé]; and performed both test cases mentioned in the bug description.

Test case 1 : preview a markdown file : a preview correctly shows (no more "r.mimeType undefined") -> test passed

Test case 2 : previewing an iso file : a preview pops up appears with the description of the file with a button "Open with Archive Manager". The button works as expected (open the archive with the archive manager) -> test passed

To that I added :

Test case 3 : preview a folder : a preview pops up appears with the description of the folder, the metadata is correctly actualized (number of files present in thatfolder) and the button "Open with Files" works as expected (opens the folder with Files/Nautilus).

I have tried many other file extensions such as .po, , .r , .rmd , .html, .json, .js, .css, .py. In all cases, a preview is correctly generated. -> test passed.

Taken together :
- the "r.mimeType undefined" error does not show up anymore, instead, previews are correctly generated.
- the button "Open with" works as expected.

-> In my hands, this release fixes this bug. As such, I have updated the tag to verification-done-jammy. Thanks.

Regards,

Mathieu (mbousq)
