Bug Description

I just installed a couple of applications (bomb squad and android studio) and while installing, they show no install progress.

Steps to reproduce

Launch gnome-software
Click an application from the front of G-S
Click Install
Fill in password

Expected outcome

I expect to be shown a progress bar, showing that installation is happening

Actual outcome

I see no progress, yet running `snap changes` in a terminal shows it is installing
In addition, clicking "Install" again fails due to the install running.

Thank you for your bug report. Could you add a 'journalctl -b 0' log from a session having the issue? I just tried on a fresh install, clicked on the gnome-software, clicked on the sublime snap, clicked install, entered my password and the install bar displayed and updated as expected

Can't reproduce this one but a variant easy to trigger here is
- click on a snap in gnome-software
- click install
- enter password
- go back to the apps list
- select the snap again

while it's installing the bar is not there anymore but it has an 'install' button, which gives an error stating it's already being installed

Could be the same issue?

I can reproduce Seb's issue in the snap-store snap as well

The clicking out of a snap and returning is probably the same issue in that we don't detect if an external client installs/removes snaps. This is not easy to solve without snapd providing an efficient means of notifying this (LP: #1768418). We could poll snapd, which is the same effect as running 'snap changes' on the command line. But this would have gnome-software (a long running process) constantly polling snapd.

Alan - do you think you've triggered the mechanism Seb described or something else?
