Content sometime not display until a focus/geometry change

thank you for your bug report, do you get any error displayed in the ui? trying here it works unless the snap query timeouts which blocks it to return other results but that's indicated in a notification

No I don't get any errors.
Tested again.on two installations on the same hardware.
- Restarted the the computer.
 - Started Ubuntu Software from the doc
- Search for "soft" and the result was presented
- Closed Ubuntu Software
- Started Ubuntu Software from the doc
- Search for "soft" and the result wasn't presented
- Clicked outside the Ubuntu Software window and the result was shown.

Will check on a new installation with other hardware later.

confirmed, there is a similar problem when browsing categories described on a duplicate

"open gnome-software, select a category and view an application in a subcategory. I navigate back using the button in the GUI and then select a different subcategory."

I did some more testing for this bug. I can't reproduce it using Communitheme. This seems to be an Ambiance-specific issue.

I can relieably reproduce this every time using the following workflow on Ambiance and not on Communitheme:

1. Open gnome software
2. Install or uninstall rocketchat
3. Close gnome software
4. Open gnome software
5. Search for libreoffice
- No search results are being displayed. Two ways to show the search results:
 a) go back to gnome software home page and search again -> search displays now
 b) click on another window (of another application) -> search results appear as soon as you click.
