Bug Description

Every time I log in to gnome shell, it becomes unresponsive for a few minutes (I'm not sure on the exact about of time). This did not happen before I upgraded to precise. After a while it responds as usual with no (obvious) issues.

I run into the same issue on my other machine (fairly new quad-core desktop), although the lockup isn't for as long. Is there something I can do to help with this bug?

Yes: you could get the stack traces of the frozen gnome-shell process.

You will need debug symbols as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash#Debug_Symbol_Packages

Then you'll need to attach to gnome-shell with gdb and get the stack traces, as described in https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeShell/Debugging
