2021-10-16 19:31:12 Lukas Wiest summary gome 40 wayland-session exiting fullscrr gome 40 wayland-session exiting fullscreen doesn't restore original size & position
2021-10-16 19:35:16 Lukas Wiest description switching applications between normal and fullscreen got slower and also it won't remember position and size of the window on exiting fullscreen compared to gnome 3.x. Can also confirm this on a 20.04 installation with gnome 40 installed and rolled back, that this is a degradation for gnome-shell 40 on wayland sessions. Xorg session is working fine. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 Package: gnome-shell 40.5-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-19.19-generic 5.13.14 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-19-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu70 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Oct 16 21:23:23 2021 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-10-16 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 21.10 "Impish Indri" - Release amd64 (20211012) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash RelatedPackageVersions: mutter-common 40.5-1ubuntu2 SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) Switching applications between normal and fullscreen got slower and also it won't remember position and size of the window on exiting fullscreen compared to gnome 3.x. I can also confirm this on a 20.04 installation with gnome 40 installed, that this is a degradation for gnome-shell 40 on wayland sessions. Xorg session is working fine. Rolling back my 20.04 machine to gnome 3.36 will make this work again under wayland. Considered that gnome 40 is the default for 21.10 and also wayland is the default, I hope this get's investigated and a fix is found before 20.04 is EOL. I've tested this with - firefox (F11 to enter/exit fullscreen) - YouTube videos - eog On going to fullscreen it often looses focus, and on exit the window just gets resized to the full monitor resolution.
