Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu Focal Fossa (development branch)
Release: 20.04

Bug: This bug is an UI which is blocking the text from visual sight of user and hence producing a bad User experience.

Steps to reproduce:

1- Click on 9 dots at bottom corner of dash (the app launcher button), wait for the app grid to show up.
2- Notice any app icon carefully and observe if it is showing up similar to what i have attached in the screenshot in this bug.

Things to notice:
(a) Bottom padding of icon selector (not equal to the top one).
(b) Position of the orange indicator which shows that an instance of app is running.

Confirming that this issue happens on my 1366x786 laptop screen but not my 1600 x 900 monitor.

I'd like to suggest that you don't fix it by moving the dot but by replacing the dot with a treatment of the text (bold, underline, italics, color) because that fix would never break due to resolution.

We don't do the design for it here. I suggest keeping the conversation upstream where those decisions are made:

This could be fixed by a design choice in Yaru to style differently. Yes, you're right, for other themes the decision can be made upstream. But, the way CSS works, Yaru could have this fixed with a few lines of CSS.

Yeah that's been done before but it's better to fix issues properly upstream in gnome-shell such that downstream themes don't run into them and don't have to work around them.
