Bug Description

In 19.10, and also running the X PPA from http://ppa.launchpad.net/canonical-x/x-staging/ubuntu

When I logged in (after having attached a Bluetooth speaker in order to test if it was being reconnected correctly) GNOME Shell isn't responding to mouse or keyboard input.

The clock continues to tell the right time, and the mouse moves around the screen and is repainted correctly.

Older output here: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/rPY2VDj6tX/

Is there an intent to get this into eoan in the next few hours and respin beta for it?

Considering the bug is particularly bad, it probably makes sense.

Package in the ppa is enough for being sponsored (once fixed the changelog)
if there's rush.

I tested the package from silo 3814 in an eoan VM where I can observe the hang very reliably, and the problem appears to be gone (rebooted the machine a dozen of times or so without an issue).

+1 from me (but as pointed out already the changelog entry needs to be fixed, it doesn't mention the patch name).

I had this issue in VM consistently when loggin in with Xorg. No problems with Wayland.
Tried the patch from above ppa and it appears to have solved problem.

Will do physical install on laptop to verify

PPA package is also working in an eoan QEMU/KVM vm which was locking up with the standard packages.

I also ran into a lockup problem on the ISO file when installing. Not sure if it's related to this or not.

---------------
gnome-shell (3.34.1-1ubuntu1) eoan; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
+ Replace gnome-backgrounds dep with ubuntu-wallpapers and Suggests
      gnome-themes-standard-data, gnome-backgrounds
    + Add some Recommends:
      - ubuntu-session (| gnome-session) to have the ubuntu session available

        stable.
    + ubuntu/smarter_alt_tab.patch:
      - quick alt-tab (without showing up the switcher) switch only between
the last window of the last 2 applications to be focused instead of
raising all windows of those apps.

      - Allow user switching when using LightDM.
    + ubuntu/lock_on_suspend.patch
      - Respect Ubuntu's lock-on-suspend setting.
    + ubuntu/gdm.patch
      - as gdm is system-wide and not session-wide, ensure gdm has an ubuntu
styling by default, not impacting the gnome user session though.
    + ubuntu/background_login.patch
      - Change default background color as we modified the default GDM color
for our ubuntu session. Change it as well here, still applying the
        background noise loading.
    + ubuntu/gdm_alternatives.patch
      - Add support for GDM3 theme alternatives
    + optional-hot-corner.patch
      - enable patch proposed by upstream developer already in package (but
