Firefox icon is blank in the launcher

I have firefox bookmarked in the gnome-shell dash. When starting the shell in disco, the firefox logo is missing and the launcher is a small but clickable blank area. If I use gnome-tweaks to change icon theme, the logo reappears for the rest of the session.

appears the logo can disappear again after being restored, and then can be restored again via changing the icon theme again.
