Missing letters scattered across the interface

Bug Description

Today my gnome-shell instance did something extremely strange. Suddenly around 2/3 of the letters, randomly scattered, were missing from the interface. I've attached a screenshot.

I've seen similar bug reports before.

To help us confirm it's the same issue, please run:

  lspci -k

and send us the output.
