Bug Description

Many times since I upgraded to 17.10 and started using GNOME on Wayland as my desktop, I've found in Thunderbird that I suddenly stopped being able to drag and drop messages into folders. I can click and hold the message and drag it, but when I hover my mouse over the destination folder nothing happens.

This seems to be a problem related to gnome-shell + Wayland, because after like the nth time it happened I was sufficiently annoyed that I decided to find out if it would occur under Xorg, and in the week+ since I switched to from Wayland to Xorg it hasn't happened a single time.

As this sounds closely related to Xwayland we should include xorg-server (the Xwayland source), and mutter (the thing that launches and manages Xwayland).

Hello Jonathan,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with drag-and-drop in Thunderbird under Wayland. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and Thunderbird have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1733033
and upload the updated logs and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
