2014-05-07 09:58:52 Launchpad Janitor gnome-shell (Ubuntu Utopic): status New Fix Released
2014-05-07 11:34:36 Attila Hammer description Dear Developers, I using Ubuntu 14.04 the GNOME Shell classic session and Orca screen reader. When I want suspending my machine and press the ALT key in top bar the Settings category/Power off menu item, awailable suspend menu item is not accessible with Orca screen reader. This situation the holded ALT key and ENTER key not resulting suspend operation. The suspend operation is possible activating only when an another settings category menu item I already holded down the ALT key and selecting suspend menu item. STEPS TO REPRODUCE. 1. Use the keyboard to focus on the power-off button at the user menu (in summary: press ctrl+alt+tab, choose top bar, navigate to the right, navigate down to open the menu, go to the last button). 2. Press Alt, so the suspend icon appers EXPECTED OUTCOME. Focus is still on the button, so you can activate the button in order to suspend. ACTUAL OUTCOME: Focus on the button is lost. In fact there is no visual reference of where the focus is now, and pressing the arrows doesn't do anything. Pressing ESC closes the menu. NOTES: This is the problem behind bug 722529. Taking into account orca output, it seems that the focus goes back to the stage, that is classified as the top Original upstream report is following: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=727259 The upstream bug Florian Müllner already fixed with GNOME Shell gnome-3-12 and master branch. Fortunately have big chance the upstream committed fix is compatible with Ubuntu Trusty packaged GNOME Shell 3.10 package version, I will be testing the fix a local level updated package. When I ready and the fix working good, I will attaching a debdiff.
