In 12.04 -Gnome 3.4 -I used Empathy with my facebook account, and messages in the tray. In 12.10, the system to config the account of facebook has changed -it's not anymore a Jabber account -and from then, when i was on line and go to search for an application, the entire system freezes for 5 or 10 seconds. It's really anoying. This not happend when i'm offline but... the message tray it's a very good feature and it's depressive keep using 12.04. Please, research.

I am running Ubuntu 13.04 with the Gnome 3 shell. I encounter the same issue. Gateway NV50A16u laptop. AMD Phenom II X2 N660 processor. ATI Mobility Radeon HD41520 Graphics. If I disable empathy I have no issues running Ubuntu 13.04 with Gnome. Facebook is the only account linked to Gnome. Problem exits in that the activity search, searches Facebook contacts and seems to be the cause of the system lag in my opinion. Creating a way to disable searching Facebook contacts from activity search while leaving empathy active might fix this behavior.
