Bug Description

Starting with gdm 3.5.90 (quantal) gdm failed to start. The logfile /var/log/gdm/\:0-greeter.log provided the obvious solution "JS LOG: Error: Requiring IBus, version none: Typelib file for namespace 'IBus' (any version) not found". Installing the package ibus solved the problem.
Please can you add the depandance "ibus" th the "gdm" package (from 3.5.90 on)

Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

gdm itself doesn't actually need ibus, but the fancy greeter provided by gnome-shell does. You can verify that by uninstalling gnome-shell & ibus and login still works.

affects: gdm (Ubuntu) → gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
