The Favorite applications on Gnome's launcher pane on the left sporadically disappear for significant amounts of time.

I know it is Gnome related, just not the specific part of Gnome.

I read that article on bug reporting, but without the component name it was not of use.

I think this specific bug was fixed in 22.04 with the locations code refactoring

Sounds unlikely given the most recent report was "ubuntu 22.10, gnome 43" (https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1910)

I see, for sure the original bug was due to problems with the initial locations icons implementation, which was causing loading not to happen.

So this has to be another bug, maybe related maybe not :(
