Is your dock set to auto-hide?

If yes, then the dock should be moving out the way.

If no, then nautilus-desktop should be placing that popup in the clearly defined desktop work area (that does not include under the dock).

summary: - Popup behind the dock

No, my dock is not set to auto-hide.

I've just tested with auto-hide turned on. The result is the same. The dock does not hide when changing folder's name.

Also if I create a new folder on the desktop (with dock auto-hide on), it partially hides behind the dock. I guess that issue is covered by bug #1723117
