Bug Description

Recently upgraded from 18.10 to 19.04. Under Preferences/Behavior I have "Show action to permanently delete files and folders" checked, but when I right-click a file or folder on the desktop only "Move to Trash" is offered. This was working previously in 18.10.

Thank you for your bug report. The desktop is rendered by a new component gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons , reassigning there.

The issue should also be reported upstream on https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/issues , it would be nice if you could do that

Reported upstream.

It's a shame, it sure seems like moving to the desktop-icons extension gives up a lot of functionality that was available when nautilus rendered the desktop. vmware-tools drag-and-drop is gone, too.

Thanks for sending it upstream. Yes, the move to that new codebase is unfortunate and have backdraws but nautilus upstream didn't want to consider it any other way and we couldn't stick back to an old nautilus version for ever in ubuntu :-/
