20.04 Slow icons in dock

Bug Description

If I open a program, it opens right away, as expected. But it takes around twenty seconds before its icon is shown in the dock, together with the other running applications.

The same thing happens if I close an application, the icon doesn't disappear right away, but after around 20 seconds.

Sounds like another case of bug 1874578.

The difference here is that I do have a disk mounted automatically via /etc/fstab when booting, but both show-mounts enabled and disabled are delayed.

This effects the currently released Ubuntu 21.04. It takes 20 seconds for icons to appear on dock.

I am also having this issue on a fresh install of 21.04:

* Occurs when booting with a USB stick already plugged in.
* Does not occur if booted without the USB stick.
* Does not occur if booted without the USB stick, then plugged in post-boot.

Oops. I was on 21.10 using older gnome 38. Not sure about 20.04. I don't think they will get gnome 40.
