Certain app indicators dissappear after laptop hibernates

Bug Description

Particularly the application indicators for Skype and Slack disappear after my laptop hibernates. There does not appear to be anyway to bring them back unless I restart the computer.

A possible workaround is described at https://askubuntu.com/a/1042998/68491 :
