Launching chrome like `XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=Unity google-chrome-stable" fixes the issue. It appears that Chrome doesn't like the preset value, `ubuntu:GNOME`.

I suppose that makes this a Chrome bug, not an Ubuntu bug?

When you write "top bar" you mean indicator?

"top bar" means the bar at the top of my machine, you know, the one with the time, wifi icon, battery icon, sound icon, etc. in it.

I believe those icons are also called "AppIndicators", yes.

I still see it in current Focal.

Well, more accurately, I _sometimes_ see it in Focal. The icons in the top bar come and go seemingly at random i.e. I can't currently identify what makes them disappear.

Nvidia user here, nope, it happens also with Xorg. And like in #8 I also see/don't see them randomly. For example, right now they are visible.
