Nautilus missing theme

Bug Description

When I open any nautilus window there is no "theme" (?) used. Any directory or file looks like the same blank "paper".
The whole window is actually just in grey except of the forward and backward arrow. It looks very basic.

I did a reboot but that made no difference. I am almost (!) sure this occurence came up after updating Ubuntu today.

If there is need for a screenshot or any further information, just send me a message.

Kind regards,
Philipp Bohn

The issue is

(gnome-settings-daemon:1741): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1397 error_code 8 request_code 3 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) → gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
