Thank Giorgio, ok so it seems gnome-settings-daemon get a signal telling it to stop, that's weird.

Could you try to run it in gdb (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) and get extra informations about the issue?

The steps are described on the wiki, you basically should:
- enable the ddeb source for oneiric-proposed
- install gnome-settings-daemon-dbgsym
- run gdb and attach it to gnome-settings-daemon (see "already running programs" on the wiki), do steps until 4. ie "continue"
- then try to print
- get the info from "6" (i.e "backtrace full")
- copy the logs there

Did you start getting those issues with an update recently or do you have them since you are on Oneiric?

Changed in gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Incomplete

Hi, the log from gdb in in attachment
I have this issue since I'm on Oneiric. I never had this problem on Natty.

could you follow the instructions in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/893676/comments/2 and add the infos there? do you use a custom ppd?

Ok, i'll go to put the infos on bug #893676. I think is the same issue, because seems that the crash happens when a notification of low toner level is shown. And yes, I use a custom ppd for my Lexmark C530 printer because with the one in ubuntu some settings are missing (for example, there is not option to force black and white printing)
