Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-settings-
This can be seen as an off-shoot from bug #519372. I wanted to remove the keyboard layout indicator applet, and so I applied the method suggested in that ticket:
gconftool-2 -s /desktop/
That did indeed remove the layout icon from the indicator applet, but now instead it appears in the notification area applet. I don't want it there either.
