"Configure Display Settings" now opens gnome-control-center rather than gnome-display-properties

Bug #631761 reported by Steven Danna on 2010-09-06
This bug affects 1 person
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

Previously, "Configure Display Settings" in the display applet would open gnome-display-properties, allowing me to quickly change the display settings.

Now (after upgrading to Maverick), "Configure Display Settings" opens gnome-control panel, forcing me to scan the list for the button that will open gnome-display-properties and click on it.

This is a minor inconvenience for those that move back and forth between display setup.

Version Information:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

$ apt-cache policy indicator-applet
  Installed: 0.4.4-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.4.4-0ubuntu1

affects: indicator-applet (Ubuntu) → gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-settings-daemon - 2.31.91-0ubuntu2

gnome-settings-daemon (2.31.91-0ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/08_xrandr_command.patch:
    - still call gnome-display-properties to configure the display, the
      control center changes didn't land this cycle (lp: #631761)
  * 06_use_application_indicator.patch: updated version by Karl Lattimer
    - don't start using cpu when switching layout (lp: #624477)
    - respect the option to display flag icons (lp: #623435)
