Binary package hint: gnome-settings-
Upon login to Gnome and waking up the laptop from sleep the gnome-settings-
It's really frustrating when I have 10 minutes in the morning to read my emails and I have to wait 5-6 minutes for gnome-settings-
If I kill gnome-settings-
The problem also existed on Jaunty, now on Karmic too, how could I track it down and find out what causes this behaviour?

i got the same problem. in iotop, i see that after gnome-do finished reading harddisk, gnome-settings- daemon starts to read at full power for about 5 min at least.
