screen settings not applied on login

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

I'm using a toshiba laptop operating jaunty beta.
the system detects my laptop screen's resolution as 1024x768 which is wrong (the resolution is also wrong on the GDM)
I manually change that, with "display preferences" tool to 1280x800 which fixes the problem until i reset my computer.
after reset the resolution changes back to 1024x768

the configuration seems correct, could you open the bug on bugzilla.gnome.org where the people writting the code will read it too since you get the bug?
