Bug Description

ibm-lockbtn:event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001003

In 0.117 the ibm-lockbtn was removed, I updated from 0.116 and the Fn+F3 combo stopped blanking the screen (only the screensaver was activated, but the LCD remained on).
Reverting to 0.116 made my screen go completely off on Fn+F3.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu.

The acpi-support package is deprecated, and the key handling provided there is being phased out in favor of direct handling by hal and the GNOME desktop. I believe gnome-settings-daemon is the component that handles the screen-lock keypress, so I'm reassigning this bug there.

Reproduce:
Install jaunty,
press Fn+F3,
-> screen fails to blank.

Expected:
Install jaunty,
press Fn+F3,
-> screen blanks (like xset dpms force off)

This works in jaunty - 1.

the issue seems rather an upstream one than an ubuntu bug, not confirming since that seems hardware specific

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of Gnome Settings Daemon is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.
