Bug Description

This is a bug that I seen had off and on across various versions of Ubuntu. Currently in 18.10 it's back again. The screen never goes blank no matter what I set the time to. I can do
    sleep1; xset dpms force standby
manually from a terminal and that works. But the system will not sleep the screen automatically.

Thank you for your bug report. Could you give some details on the monitors configuration you are using? Also could you add your journalctl log after triggering the issue?

gnome-control-center only writes configuration, it's not in charge of the action, the problem is rather in gnome-settings-daemon, gnome-shell or the video drivers, reassigning to the first one for now

affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) → gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
Changed in gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
