Bug Description

I have just upgraded to 14.04 and found an issue with custom keyboard shortcuts.

In 12.04 I used to have Shift + Ctrl + Esc as a custom shortcut to suspend my machine, upon upgrading I have found that any combination use Esc key will not run the command.

It appears to be a regression from 13.10 as another user is reporting the same issue in askubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/q/489418/8570

Using any alternative such as Shift + Ctrl + F1 works fine.

The <Primary><Shift>Escape binding appears to work normally with a regular Gnome shell, as opposed to the default Unity one

27.4.2016 - still does NOT work!

It is not possible to set Escape as shortcut:

Does not work:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys.custom-keybinding:/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom0/ binding "<Primary><Shift>Escape"

Does not work:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys.custom-keybinding:/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom0/ binding "<Ctrl><Shift>Escape"

Works (because it's Q and not Escape):
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys.custom-keybinding:/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom0/ binding "<Ctrl><Shift>Q"

Ubuntu 18.04 - Can use Escape for shortcuts! Using ctrl-shift-esc to open system monitor so I have the same(ish) command across my dual-boot.

Kubuntu 20.04: Ctrl + Esc and Ctrl + Shift + Esc doesnt work. But Ctrl + Alt + Esc works of course.

@jvaldas That must be a different issue as this was Gnome related and no longer affects Ubuntu >= 18.04. I use Ctrl-Shift-Esc for suspend everyday.

Suspect this won't every be fixed in Unity so closing issue.
