description |
How to reproduce:
1. Run gnome-session-properties (or alternatively via session indicator run "Startup applications..."
2. Add Tomboy
What happens:
Well, Tomboy is added and runs the next logon. But the icon is not visible.
What should happen:
Well, I would like to see an icon next to Tomboy, as I see for example for System load applet
I am not sure this is a bug in gnome-session-properties, but most of my applications do not have an icon so clearly something is wrong here (I suspect only applications that added themselves have icons) See attache screenshot.
ProblemType: Bug

Proposed solution (based on discussion with Sebastian Bacher in the comments to this bug):
Use
See attached screenshot for how it looks like (applications with icons were added in 11.04 and earlier I think)

Proposed solution (based on discussion with Sebastian Bacher in the comments to this bug):
1. Use gtk software selector (gui used by nautilus to set default programs to open certain file types) for adding programs to startup applications.
2. Hint the user somehow that she can drag and drop icons from unity
3: It should still be possible to add custom commnands (i.e. this_awesome_script_that_does_not_have_a_.desktop_dile), i think it is the bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/894831

There are two solutions: one is to use gtk software selector: bug 140918
Other is to somehow hint the user that she can drag and drop icons from unity
