Bug Description

it would be good if there would be a mention about autostart in
/usr/share/doc/gnome-session/README.Debian
i could not find out what place in my home directory gnome-session looks for .desktop files.

something like this would have been helpfull:
The Gnome Session Manager launches .desktop files that
are placed in /usr/share/autostart and ~/.local/share/autostart on startup.

Thanks for your bug. We are still in discussion with upstream about the actual place to use between config_dir and data_dir: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330397

Patches are welcome if you want to write about that feature

Upstream bug fixed, decision reached, marking bug as 'ubuntulove' to get documentation written.

there is no reason users should have to know about the directory used, the user interface is used to do changes, code details are described in the specifications there is no need to have additional descriptions there
