2. Reboot to gdm
3. Select a user and click on the cog to select a session.
4. When the user logs in with the default selection it starts a wayland session

Expected result
There is a cog, when the user clicks on it, it shows a list of sessions available.

Actual result
the cog is not displayed and there is no way to select a session and the default session starts xorg.

Thank you for your bug report. It works here, from the description it looks like gdm might consider that wayland can't be used on your video driver and lists only x11 sessions as a result. Since you have one 1 session to list in that case it also explains why the cog has no list.

Could you enable gdm debugging in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and see if the logs have any hint about that

Indeed that's the issue. If I use another graphics driver (qxl instead of vga) then the 2 options are displayed. But then both entries start x11 (same than on my laptop)
I'm closing this report and will file another one for the other issue.

Thanks.
