Bug Description

I select the Gnome on Wayland login option, then type my password in and press Enter. A blank screen with a blinking cursor appears, and then I am thrown back into the lightdm login screen, without any error message. I am attaching the lightdm.log which has some intriguing error messages.

I was having the same issue in Arch Linux, and I solved it by installing the xwayland package (called xorg-server-xwayland in Arch). Try this:

sudo apt-get install xwayland
