Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I don't know exactly when it started, I just noticed that the terminal was opening in the upper left corner and there was no way to reposition it.
The only fix is to log out and select the "gnome failsafe" option, then re-login.

I tried this fix, saved the session, logged out, then logged back in.
It worked.

in ~/.gnome or ~/.gnome2 i think there is a session file. rename it to
session.old and logout and login again.

without that file, the session defaults to the default session. since
you said that your failsafe session works then i think this will solve
your problem.

Thanks for your bug report. Could you try to get a valgrind log for the crash (you can follow the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind)?

Sorry, but I do not believe that this situation applies. eg...
"Start the program under control of memcheck:" I noticed the problem
sometime after an update was run. After checking the "forum" I realized
that others had experienced the same condition. It seems to have
something to do with the update process.

This worked for me. I would be glad to help you with this problem in
some other way.

why do you think using valgrind would not work?
