Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Using an edubuntu server install made from the feisty i386 edubuntu dvd 20070418, I absentmindedly logged in twice - once on a thin client and once on the server.

The result was that on the server I was no longer able to log out at all. Even logging out on the client and C-A-Backspace-killing the X server, and logging in again, produced a session where [Door icon] / Logout would hang.

I was able to rescue my account by deleting all of my dotfiles and removing and recreating ~/Desktop. After that, the system worked normally for me again.

See also bug 67366, which is about the fact that the ltsp setup didn't warn me that this was a bad idea.

Confirmed just now using GNOME attempting to login as an already logged in user. Same steps as above to regain control of X. This should at least display an error message and not allow a duplicate login via ltsp.
