this is very annoying , fades within 3 seconds of mouse stopping , you have to keep moving the mouse to even type into a trrminal .
this is on a fully up to date 11.10 running gnome-shell 64 bit .

Is this the same bug that causes the screen to go black when watching a video in full screen mode? Same cause?

u can temp solve it by running on a terminal

sudo apt-get install gnome-screensaver-
sudo lightdm restart

then just wait for a new release of the package...
warning: u cannot lock your computer after those commands.....

It happens to me too, even in fullscreen.
Also, another way to fix it is by uninstalling gnome-screensaver completely and installing xscreensaver. That one is a lot better anyway, and you get like 200 screensavers with it, which look awesome on an HDTV.
