Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

When I login after the automatic 'Lock Screen' function has kicked in I have to login in twice. The first time I login it goes back to the desktop and appears ok for about 2secs, then it goes back to the 'Lock Screen' login for me to put my password in again. The second time I login everything is ok. This is happening every time I log back in after the 'Lock Screen' has kicked in, it is not intermittent.

Just to confirm the double login does not happen when I initially login to my account.

Anthony, could this be a duplicate of bug #556255?

Just looked throught the notes for bug #556255 and it looks to be identical.

The affected users also note that the issue only started when they upgraded to a new version.

Thanks for the prompt comebacks to my bug report.

One thing to note is that since the uprade from 9.10 to 10.04 the screensaver is activating itself. Like it would say if I'd set it to come up after 5mins of inactivity.

I've never set it to come on automatically, it just started doing this when I upgraded to 10.04. Don't know if this helps at all.

I encountered this as well. After reading all the posts above, i decided to turn off the screen saver. Problem solved :) I assume if you turn off "Lock Screen when screensaver is active" will fix it as well.

Extra info:

The default screensavee was set to run after 5 mins, i also set my comp to suspend/lock after 5 mins as well. So i guess both lock screen are "activated" because of auto lock and screensaver.

Just thought i add some info to this.
