Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
Auto-complete entries (display overlays?) disappear after resuming screensaver.
Ubuntu 9.10 beta (updated today)
gnome-screensaver version: 2.28.0-0ubuntu1
tested on EeePC 1000H with: Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
and on old P4 desktop with: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AS [Radeon 9550]
System > Preferences > Screensaver set to 1 minute (for faster tests)
running Firefox
Usually pressing any key into a field like 'address', 'google search', 'ubuntuforums search', 'login fields', etc. auto-complete feature suggests some entries from history. After resuming screensaver this feature does NOT show the suggested entries. You can see cursor flickering which means 'box is drawing but not shown'.
Minimize - Maximize firefox window (or close and run firefox again) solves this problem.
Problem EXISTS with any wallpaper, any screensaver (or blank screen) with 'Normal' and 'Extra' visual effects.
NO PROBLEM when using 'None' visual effects (in both PCs tested).
Test procedure used:
- run firefox
- wait for the screensaver to appear, leave it running for one more minute
- move mouse/touchpad to resume
- type any letter into 'firefox address field'
>>> cursor flickers, auto-complete suggestions NOT shown
See attached image 'ScrSaver_err.png'
At left is the normal situation, at right the wrong one.
Problem appears to any field #1,2 or 3
Regards,
George
