[Dapper] gnome-screensaver starts when playing a movie with VLC media player

On Dapper, gnome-screensaver start even though a movie is played using VLC media player. That was not the case on Breezy, with Xscreensaver.

Since I like to have my screensaver lock the screen after 5 min of inactivity, that's quite painfull. Right now, the only solution I have is simply not to use any screensaver in Dapper.

adds gnome-screensaver support to the screensaver routine of vlc to simulate activity to the screensaver all 30sec

Is it the way it usually works? For a non-programmer like, it seems quite strange to add work every 30sec in the application to prevent a screensaver to start - but anyway, I'm just a noob :)

the 30sec code is already there, its just calling xscreensaver-command, my code just executes gnome-screensaver-command additionally if its installed ... i wont change the way vlc works, thats up to the upstream developers :)

Is your patch going to be send upstream so it finds a way in the main code? That way ppl can still dl/compile newest or optimised versions for their Ubuntu system without losing the ability to disable the screensaver?
Now on my way to test xine...
