Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

In Hardy (posibly in others too), when gnome-screensaver turns on, it blocks the volume up/down, play/pause and mute keys.
Maybe it'd be a good idea not to block those specific keys, so that people who are listening to music with the screen powered off don't need to enter their password just to use them.

Steps to reproduce.
1- Turn on gnome-screensaver, and select the "Lock screen when screensaver is active" option.
2- Start rhythmbox and play some music.
3- Wait for the screensaver to appear.
4- Press any of those multimedia keys.

Same behavior in Ubuntu 7.10

Although it might generally not be a good idea to allow key events to bypass the screensaver, having the multimedia keys working although the screen is locked would be a nice feature.

If this was put in, I would want a way to disable this feature. If I pause my music, lock the screen, and walk away for a few minutes, I don't want someone else to be able to resume my music and go to a different track.

This is still present on 12.10 with gnome-shell 3.6 (with the new lock screen, which does allow controlling volume and music with the mouse only, but not with keyboard)
Not sure if that should be a separate bug by now, or if its a separate package.
