Hi,

Sometimes when my PC comes back from the screen saver,
I'm not able to log in (the password field doesn't even show up).
Please note that the upper menu (settings, power and language) is also missing.
I have this problem almost every day and the only solution I found is to kill the X server ...
You can easily guess that it is pretty annoying !

Now, I found its solution for me
It does not happen when I use two language for input
one is ubuntu default language (mother language) Korean (Hangul)
second is english to input command, password, etc....

At the lock screen, without english , I can't type password
it is the very first reason for this issue
but, after I add english for input language
it changed automatically to english , and it makes me enable to type password

where to report this issue?
i will suggest it for related to ubuntu language input method team

Hello

I found a way to save my X session when it happens

- As root on console 1 :
# killall light-locker

- As the user locked out of X on console 1 :
$ export DISPLAY=:0
$ unity --replace

- Go back to console 7

After that the lock screen works great until next reboot, I think it it is using light-dm directly.

light-locker seems buggy.

First time happening to me.
Left in lock overnight, I leave mine on all the time for weeks at a time.
Wiggle mouse to wakeup. Keyboard wakeup is set to off in BIOS due to cats. The login appeared.
Unable to type in password. Used mouse finally to Logout. Entered a Guest account which I have
set up in very restrictive manner, and doesn't need a password to use. Clicked on Menu, it opened,
but nothing past that wanted to open from the menu using mouse. No keyboard use either.
I use a KVM, fully USB with USB keyboard and USB Mouse.
I turned on second computer and was able to soft-switch from keyboard (scroll,scroll, arrow)
over to it. I then switched back and was able to
logout the Guest and login to my user account.
 Seems my problem was KVM caused. Might be of help for others
who have had similar problem and also use a KVM. Also unplugging a USB keyboard that is direct to computer
and then plugging back in might get past the problem.
