Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

In my oppinion the unlock-dialog should not show the real name of the logged in user - at least there should be an option to hide the real name and maybe also the username - I do not want people to know which computer one (me is working at) nor I want the people sitting next to me in the train to know my name. (May be I am a paranoiac *g*)

sure it will make to me at least much more sense if only the username was shown in the gnome-screensaver lock dialog, as a7p no one needs to know what's my name, and i'm already know what full name correspond to each user in my machine.

Dont enter your full name in the first place.

Seriously, I think this is a little paranoid. If you don't like it, you *can* change it; either a custom theme, or possibly gconf...

A description of the method by which one would accomplish a patch to allow this through gconf settings is available in the upstream bug for the curious. It is unlikely that Ubuntu would change the default behaviour, as the GECOS name of the user is already available through GDM by default (and getting to GDM is trivial if one has physical control of the device). That said, coordinated changes in default behaviours from upstream may well be absorbed in Ubuntu.
