Bug Description

After a recent update Ubuntu 22.04 stalled and screen went black after entering password. After process of elimination it seems that the culprit is the update to gnome-remote-desktop.

1. Description: Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (development branch)
Release: 22.04

2. gnome-remote-desktop 42.0-2

3. I expected Ubuntu 22.04 to open after entering password at login.

4. Instead the login screen would freeze, then go black. Using a previous snapshot provided by zsys and synaptic package manager, I iterated on the "upgradable" updates until I had all the updates installed except the one. Whenever gnome-remote-desktop is installed, the login process fails. So, I deleted gnome-remote-desktop and all seems fine. This ubuntu is installed in a VM using KVM/QEMU

This was fixed in an update for gnome-remote-desktop 42.1.1-0ubuntu1 which should be available to everyone within 2 days. If you install all updates, you will be able to log in normally. As a workaround, you can log in to the GNOME on Xorg session so that you can log in for the first time to install updates.

There will be updated ISOs available when Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS is released in a few months.
