Bug Description

it would be nice if the bindings were more fine grained, like the ruby gnome bindings, so one could only install python bindings to gnomecanvas without the rest of the gnome bits, since libgnomecanvas does not depend on other gnome C libraries.
python-gnome2 would then additionally depend on the broken out packages.

Thanks for your bug. That creates some extra complexity and I'm not sure it'll be useful to many users, marking as a wishlist

Rigth, it is a feature request not a bug. I came across it when looking at
hwdb-client which depends on canvas.
The way it is now it also installs all the gnome libraries which it does not
use.
Canvas will have to be moved out anyway when it is replaces by a gtk only
equivalent :)
But I agree it is not a priority.
