Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm using Feisty Herd 5 on a vaio vgn-s1xp.

Since yesteday the Fn keys controlling brightness work again. However, the Power Manager Brightness Applet can only get my screen's brightness, but cannot actually change the brightness levels.
Brightness does not change either when going from AC to Battery or viceversa even if so it is set in the Power Manager preferences.

I attach my lshal, but could it be that also for vaios there is an issue similar to this for Dell?

I think it's duplicate for https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/65028

Try the solution with relinking /bin/sh to /bin/bash.
It solved the problem for me ;)

Thanks Vyacheslav, you pointed me in the right direction.

For future reference, I changed #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash in /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/hal-system-lcd-set-brightness-linux and now it works. Even though, just clicking on the Brightness Applet dims the screen. The Volume Applet does not do the same.
