coming back from standby the screen is dim as if running on battery

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

even if power is connected, the screen is dim coming back from standby. brightness buttons dont work and only after echo 100 > /proc/acpi/video/DGFX/LCD/brightness is the screen back to normal brightness.
i run proprietary nvidia xorg driver.
