Bug Description

I cannot find any way to change the brightness on my laptop when using Edgy. I've tried the Fn hotkeys and it is not working. Actually, none of the Fn keys are working properly...I assume it is related.

Thanks for your report.

Unfortunately more information is required to assess this.

Is there an option if you go to System > Preferences > Power Management?

What version of Ubuntu are you using?

There is no option when going to System>Preferences>Power Management. I am
using Ubuntu version 6.10 (Edgy Eft). If there is any more information I can
provide, just let me know. Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducable with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Hi Pedro,
System:
- Fujitsu Lifebook S6410P laptop
- Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7500 (64-bit)
- RAM: 2Gig
- kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon Tribe-5

The function keys F6/F7 for brightness are not responding. Also, unplugging the laptop from the power does not have any noticeable effect.

Let me know if any other testing required.

Oh, should I raise another bug report for KDE?

Peter

Still a problem on Fujitsu Lifebook S6410P.

Installed Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex with all updates as of 16th Nov 2008.

Also, the brightness does not change when power unplugged.

Peter: Please file a separate report for the Fujitsu.

Confirming, with Toshiba Satellite M45 and up-to-date Intrepid.

No brightness control either via fn-keys or gnome-power-manager "dim display" option.

Any suggestions for testing?
