Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64
Laptop is an Alienware M17

I'm new to Linux and not sure it's really related to the Gnome-Power-Manager. When I first installed Ubuntu, I was able to remove my Power Chord and move to another spot and plug the power chord back in. Now after maybe 3-5 updates, if I unplug the power chord the system will hang. It hangs so bad that I have to restart the laptop. No keyboard keys will work, no mouse, and I even tried to close the lid to see if the system will go to hibernation state, but no luck. All this happens with the system running meaning it's not in suspend. Now I've notice that if I close the lid and let the system go into hibernation state then unplug the AC chord the system will not hang.

Similar problem running on a Clevo P150HM using Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit.

I can unplug the power from the laptop but if I plug back in the system stops and the only way to start again is to turn off and on. If I plug in the power while the laptop is suspended the system continues to work. It only seems to fail if I plug in the power while the laptop is running and being used.
