Maverick: Laptop hibernates when power removed

Advent Milano Elite.

Battery fully charged, but removing power plug causes immediate hibernation. No error or notification.
I tried the gconf-editor /apps/gnome-power-manager/general de-select the option use_time_for_policy, but did not work.

I have similar issue on my Dell Latitude e4200
1. I'm unplug power cable
2. Immediately close notebook lid
3. It goes standby mode
4. When i open lid and enter my credential i see notification about extremely low battery charge
5. system goes to hibernate
6. When i turn it on. Battery charge showing correctly.

Sorry, forget to specify ubuntu version. Natty with 2.6.38-12-generic.

I have a similar issue with Ubuntu 10.04 (2.6.38-11-generic): after unplugging the power I get a 'battery critical' notification, even if the battery is fully charged, and the computer goes to hibernate. On resume the computer works fine.
