Bug Description

Hi,

I have HP Compaq nx6325 and Ubuntu Lucid. After a boot the screen is bright. If I try to decrease screen brightness and then increase brightness again to full, the screen does not become as bright as it is from the boot (even if the ubuntu screen brightness popup meter shows full). The full brightness can be restored only by booting the machine.

It also happens that if I haven't set the brightness and the screen is bright and I push fn+f10 (which is a button to increase the screen brightness) the screen actually becomes dimmer (ubuntu brightness popup shows full value).

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

The problem still occurs in ubuntu Natty. Additionally, with a new HP probook 6560b the setting of screen brightness does not work at all in ubuntu Natty.
