Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

In my Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick installation (and previously Ubuntu 09.10 Karmic and 10.04 Lucid), when requested to hibernate (from the power icon in the panel) the PC gets frozen:
  - the monitor is switched off;
  - the PC Power LED stays ON.

Then, when I reboot the PC with the reset Hard-button, the audio is muted (according what the related panel icon says).

The hybernation worked properly with my HW till I left Jaunty for Intrepid.

10.04 Goes into hybernation ( Fn + F4 ) screen slowly goes white then black, backlight stays on "moon' led is on but it will not return from hybernation ( Fn )... i.e. must be powered down and restarted.
9.10 was perfect in this respect.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

@Pedro: yes the problem is still here (a bit improved, but not completely solved).
I've performed the bug-update and then refined the bug description to the behaviour on Maverick.

@Fabio: I have checked the test you proposed.
First, I reverted my Configurations Settings, then I tried to hibernate, and noticed the issue is still here.
So, I killed and restarted gpm in debug mode and retried to hibernate my PC. The issue was the same. I am attaching the debug log (which I cannot interpret).
